We hope you will join us for a time of reflection and discussion on the state of open access in academia today, and how  theological libraries can respond to a myriad of issues, from access and discovery to intellectual property concerns. Kevin Smith, the Director of Copyright and Scholarly Communication at the Duke University Libraries, will present his take on the state of open access. Mr. Smith is well known as an expert on scholarly communication and intellectual property issues in academia, and we look forward to hearing his views on the challenges and complexities of open access in libraries and the academic world. In the afternoon, a panel representing a variety of views within libraries and the academy will respond to Mr. Smith’s presentation.

We hope many CATLA members will be able to join us for this important conversation; this invitation is extended to all faculty and staff at CATLA member institutions, so please share this invitation within your institution. Please RSVP to Lisa Gonzalez by September 27th. If you are traveling from a distance, more information on local hotels is available from Trinity's visitor's guide.
